The Winter Session of Pre-Tap and Pre-Ballet classes starts on January 5th, 2015. The Schedule and Guidelines are available on the Downloads page. New classes have been added for 3-5 and 4-6 year olds and for those who are a little older or who have complete one or more sessions of Pre-Ballet and/or Pre-Tap.
We will be participating in multiple Christmas parades over the next several weeks, as follows:
December 13th, Performance at Sudley Manor Square with Santa Clause :
December 13th, Performance at Manassas Mall:
December 13th, Nokesville Christmas Parade
December 5th, Warrenton Christmas Parade: (Completed)
December 6th, Manassas Christmas Parade: (Completed)
December 7th, December 14th, Baltimore Christmas Parade: (Completed)
Links to more information will be posted next to each parade as soon as we receive it.
We still have some seats left for our NYC trip on Saturday, November 15th. We will be leaving just before 5am and returning at approximately midnight (probably a little earlier). The bus will pick us up in the studio parking lot where you can leave your car. Tickets are $70 per person (roundtrip).
Many of those who are going plan on shopping, sight-seeing, and/or attending a show. We recommend that you attend the Radio City Music Hall Christmas Spectacular if you have not done so in the past. It’s a great show and will put you in the Christmas Spirit. If you have already seen it you may want to see it again as the show does change from year to year.
You can buy tickets for the Christmas Spectacular in advance or when we arrive (the bus will drop us off directly across the street from Radio City Music Hall). I know that there are some who have already purchased tickets, while others like myself are waiting until we get there. In the past the 10am show has not sold out and we were able to get orchestra seats for not much more than 2nd and 3rd mezzanine seats.
Keep in mind that there is no guarantee the bus will arrive in time for the 10am show. We are allowing enough time that it should, but traffic can always be a problem. In the past our travel time has averaged 4 hours.
Another option is to go to the Tickets booth in Times Square and pick up discounted tickets for any of the Broadway shows. Most of the shows have 2pm or 3pm Saturday matinees. Tickets is a clearing house for same day tickets to Broadway shows. Not all shows will have tickets available and if they do they may be spread out. Groups of 2-4 should be able to sit next to each other.
The Dates for our annual recital have been set for Saturday, June 20th and Sunday, June 21st. Rehearsal dates will determined at a later date. The location will be Metz Middle School in the City of Manassas as it has been for the last 4 years.
ZUMBA is now being offered at Spotlight Dance on Monday from 8:30-9:30 PM, Tuesday morning 10:00-11:00 AM AND 11:00-12:00 Noon and Saturday 9:00-10:00 AM. You can pay for your ZUMBA class, as you go for $8/class or purchase a 10 punch ZUMBA card for $50 ($5/class). Lynsey is our licensed ZUMBA instructor and she has been working hard on choreography and fun routines. If you have never tried ZUMBA, this is your opportunity. Come and join many other dance parents moving through the music and having a fun time while getting in your cardio. Your dancer(s) will be proud of you. The ZUMBA classes will start next week on September 15th…and any Parent who would like to take the ZUMBA class during your child’s dance class, don’t worry, we will take care of changing shoes and giving them the needed hugs between classes, so you can enjoy your class.
I am looking forward to seeing all of our returning dancers and new dancers. If you have not signed up for dance yet, please come a few minutes before your class starts in order to complete the registration process. If you are under the age of 18 you will need to have an adult with you. If you need help with placement please call or email the studio.
Spotlight will be open Wednesday through Friday for registration this week. The hours are 4-8pm each day. If possible please come by and register this week as it helps the first week of dance go smoothly.
You may continue to send in registrations by mail and these will be processed in the order they are received. You also may send email to firstname.lastname@example.org, keeping in mind that you may not get an immediate response.
Classes will start on Monday, September 8th. We are looking forward to seeing our returning students and welcoming new students into the Spotlight family.
